At HCCN, we believe no one should face cancer alone. Our mission is simple: to provide the care, connection, and support that go beyond clinical treatment—helping people live well with and beyond cancer.
HCCN fills the gap where NHS resources fall short, ensuring that everyone affected by cancer in Huntingdonshire has access to the care, tools, and community they need to thrive.
Remarkable Beginning
HCCN was born from a simple but powerful idea: to bring cancer care into the community, so people could receive support beyond the hospital setting.
It all started in 2012 as part of an NHS pilot programme, testing a new way of providing personalised, home-based cancer support. The results were clear—this approach made a real difference in people’s lives. When the pilot ended, the team behind it knew this vital service had to continue.
💙 In 2015, HCCN became a registered charity, allowing us to extend our support beyond NHS limitations and reach even more people in need.
Since then, we’ve continued to evolve, always guided by one goal: ensuring that no one in Huntingdonshire faces cancer alone.
Key Milestones:

2014: The NHS pilot’s evaluation shows a 1:5.9 cost return, proving that community-based care leads to better outcomes.

2015: HCCN is officially registered as a charity, expanding support beyond the NHS.

2017: HCCN is recognised for innovation in cancer care, winning the 3rd Sector Care Award.

2020: We said goodbye to our visionary founder, Susan Moore, whose holistic approach to cancer support continues to inspire HCCN’s mission.

2022: We opened Bradbury House, a welcoming hub for our support groups, exercise classes, and wellbeing activities—bringing Susan’s vision to life.

2023: HCCN wins the Health Inequalities Challenge Prize, funding the launch of new services like the Buddy Scheme.
Today, HCCN supports individuals across 29 GP surgeries, providing free, evidence-based activities and compassionate care to complement clinical services.
